Back to the good old days for a moment...
I am a member of the dutch Old Timers Club. Prerequisite for being elected to this elite circle is to have a ham radio license for 25 years. Being licenced in 1968 I qualify for membership. Today was the annual gathering, and I went there with Nicoletta, my xyl ('wife' in the normal world). This is always fun. You can talk with people about antennas, Wireless Set 19 (the rig that brought me my first contest victory in 1969), radio tubes, amplitude modulation and xtal detectors. They even show pictures of the stuff, and that gives you a warm feeling of time standing still. For the xyl it is an opportunity to meet some other members of her species who suffer from the same circumstances, and they talk a lot about the degree of 'crazyness' of the other participants.
